We're off on a new adventure!! Five fabulous first grade teachers from all corners of Arkansas are embarking on a journey to find the best technology resources to enhance our literacy instruction for our little learners!!
My class really enjoyed the abcya.com site. Every student had a netbook which kept me hoppin'. Maybe I should have introduced the site by showing it on the Promethean board to the whole group first?? It has several activities for the students to choose.
The readingbear.org site requires log in information--Would it be OK to have 1 log in per class or per reading group?
Hello ladies!!!!! I am so sorry that I have not been posting. We agreed we would post 1 before Thanksgiving, 1 before Christmas and 2 times in January. I have some catching up to do.
I will start with typing practice. Our first grade team decided we needed keyboarding practice daily before using a sight to publish their writing would be successful. Here is what my students are using each day: Dancemat Typing, www.bb.co.uk/schools/typing cupstacking keyboarding on abcya.com typing rocket jumber on abcya.com
The tool my students are currently using is Story Jumper (www.storyjumper.com). It is easy as a teacher to sign up - it is free. You register each child in the class and can make one easy password. We are in the middle of creating our first book so I will let you know how it goes. I also am taking 2 students to a District Wide "Learning Showcase" to present their projects using their mini computers.
I am ready to begin this fantastic fact finding adventure. The technology we have already found is fabulous.
