Apps

Hey Ladies!

My kids and I are loving the app Cramberry.  I love this app because I can "make" my own flash cards for my students based on what we are currently learning.  You can type in what you want on the front and back of the "card."  The kids can then match the front and back.  When they make a match, the cards go away and more pop-up.  I use this for both literacy and math!  The other reason I love it so much is that it is FREE!!!

Another app I'm just starting to use with my students is Phonic Awareness (I can't get the pic to load, but it has a green caterpillar on a blue stripped background).  With this app, they can segment, blend, study vowels, and check themselves.  I use this mostly with my struggling students as an intervention.  They can also use this app on their own.  It's great to hear them helping each other segment or blend different words!  This app is also FREE!

Another app I've just introduced to my students who need a challenge is Jumbline 2.  This gives them 5 letters (or more if you are brave).  They rearrange the letters to make 3, 4, and 5 letter words.  I encourage them to use patterns and blends that we have studied.  The challenge for them is usually the 5 letter word.  I try to help them figure that one out, but sometimes it's a challenge for me too!  Again, it's FREE!  You're shocked I know! :)

I am looking forward to see y'all in about a week!

Mary
